The Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating is the Public Protection Classification used to
gauge the ability of the Fire Department to respond to fires. The ISO rating is used by the
insurance industry to determine insurance premiums for residences and businesses.
The Forest Lake Fire Department provides fire protection for two cities located in two
separate counties (Forest Lake/Washington County and Columbus/Anoka County). Because
each city is located in different counties they both have been issued their own classification.
